
The Strategic Infrastructure Office (SIO) comprises the Campus Planning Groups, Project Management Office, and Real Property and Infrastructure Planning. SIO plans and implements infrastructure revitalization and investments in partnership with the Projects & Infrastructure Modernization Division and Facilities Division.
SIO oversees the stewardship of the Laboratory’s physical infrastructure, ensuring LBNL’s ability to deliver world-class science and maintaining that legacy into the future. SIO actively manages LBNL’s infrastructure strategy through collaboration with Senior Lab Leadership and research areas across the Lab.

Campus Planning & Infrastructure Development
Campus Planning & Infrastructure Development supports the efficient and effective use of space across the campus, ensuring that facilities and infrastructure align with the Laboratory’s research goals and stewardship. The Site & Environmental Planning and Space Planning groups oversee this effort.
Project Management Office
The Project Management Office (PMO) provides assurance to senior leadership and assistance to project teams to ensure that LBNL projects are managed to the highest standard of performance. The PMO partners with Divisions and Operations Areas across Berkeley Lab, providing guidance on DOE Order 413.3B requirements for major projects and supporting project management at all levels.
Real Property & Infrastructure Planning
Real Property and Infrastructure Planning (RPIP) services provide a systematic approach to developing an infrastructure renewal plan by conducting facility condition and functional assessment surveys and managing asset information database platforms.
