The Site & Environmental Planning Group provides guidance and support for the efficient, compatible, and strategic use of the Berkeley Lab campus grounds while promoting the aesthetic, visual, and biological character of the Lab’s campus. Through consultation, analysis, and preparation of planning and management documents, Site & Environmental Planning helps ensure Lab science projects, construction, and maintenance activities meet regulatory compliance. We work collaboratively with Lab scientific and operations staff to:
- Locate and analyze sites for buildings, installations, and uses
- Plan and implement policies involving land use, landscape, hardscape, vegetation, etc.
- Provide support and analysis on issues involving campus grounds, borders, vegetation management, and the surrounding community
- Prepare National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) documentation and review proposals entered into the LBNL Electronic System for Research Administration (eSRA). More information can be found here.
